Demi Lovato has decided never to get a matching tattoo again, saying she no longer believes they’re a good idea.

The Cool for the Summer singer, who has an extensive collection of tattoos, revealed on the Las Culturistas podcast that many of her ink choices were made impulsively rather than thoughtfully planned.

Demi, who uses both she/her and they/them pronouns, admitted that one of her tattoos hasn’t aged well because it reminds her of someone in a way that feels awkward and regretful.

“It is what it is… it was still a cool story behind the tattoo that I got, but do I wish I didn’t get a matching tattoo with someone? Yes!” they said.

The Heart Attack artist explained that she no longer supports the idea of getting matching tattoos with romantic partners, believing they can bring bad luck to the relationship.

“Don’t do it. I think it’s like cursed. I don’t like matching tattoos,” they shared. “I’ve gotten two matching tattoos and it just didn’t end up well. I just feel like, rule of thumb, it’s just not a good idea.”

Demi, who is married to heavily tattooed musician Jutes, told co-hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers that she wishes she had been more thoughtful about her earlier tattoos.

“I went so hard on tattoos at such a young age,” she admitted. “I wish I had thought more about it rather than getting all these impulsive tattoos that I did.”

The 33-year-old has slowed down in recent years and hasn’t added any new tattoos since May 2024. Her most recent piece reads “I love you more,” written in her mother’s handwriting on her left inner forearm.
