Blueface Explains Why A Drake Collab Failed To Come Together

Blueface discussed why he thinks his collaboration with Drake never happened during a new interview with VladTV. He chose not to blame either side, instead suggesting that outside factors played a role. He also floated the idea that Drake might have been more focused on possibly signing him at the time.

"Maybe who I was behind or working with, he was not vibing with," Blueface said. "I would not necessarily say it was because of me or him. It was just because of circumstances. At this time, if I were to guess, I would say he was probably more interested in signing me. Once he seen that I signed and all this stuff..."

He went on to say that he may have become "competition" once his track with Cardi B dropped. She and YG were featured on the remix of his hit single, "Thotiana," in 2019. "She went crazy," Blueface said, praising Cardi's verse. "That feature changed my life honestly."

When Blueface first broke out in 2018, he shared a screenshot of his DMs with Drake, showing that the Toronto star had reached out to him. After calling Blueface the "next big thing" and complimenting his track "Dead Locs," Drake wrote: "Trust me sh*ts about to poppppp off once people catch up. You know I am always ready to cook. Boi1da got a beat he made for us that slaps so hard." Even with the enthusiasm in those messages, nothing ever came from it, and years passed without any sign of a collaboration.

Blueface’s interview with VladTV follows his release from prison earlier this month. Since then, he has been making headlines for his usual controversial behavior, including claiming that Chrisean Rock slept with Offset. He has also been linked romantically to Hazel E. The two were first seen together at Memehouse Productions nightclub in Los Angeles on Friday, November 7. TMZ later spotted them again while out for dinner at TAO in Hollywood.
