Neil Young will return to the Painted Turtle summer camp in Lake Hughes, California, on Oct. 25 for the third Harvest Moon benefit concert. This year’s lineup includes Lana Del Rey, Beck, and the marimba group Masanga. Tickets go on sale Sept. 24 through the event’s official site.
Money raised from the event will go toward the Painted Turtle, which gives children with serious medical conditions a traditional camp experience, and the Bridge School, which supports children with significant physical and speech challenges.
“We’re honored to welcome Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts, Beck, and Lana Del Rey to Harvest Moon this year,” April Tani, Executive Director of The Painted Turtle, said in a statement. “This gathering, where music, nature, and purpose come together, is a powerful celebration of hope and community. It’s an opportunity for all of us to support two extraordinary organizations making a real difference in children’s lives.”
The first Harvest Moon concert at the Painted Turtle was held on Sept. 14, 2019, and featured sets by Young, Norah Jones, and Father John Misty. The evening ended with Young and Jones performing “Harvest Moon” and “The Losing End” together.
The second show followed on Oct. 24, 2024, with performances by Masanga, Lily Meola, and John Mayer. That night ended with Young reuniting with Stephen Stills for a run of classics including “Helplessly Hoping,” “Helpless,” and “For What It’s Worth,” along with the first live performance of Buffalo Springfield’s “Hung Upside Down” since 1967. They closed with a fiery version of “Rockin’ in the Free World,” where Young, Stills, and Mayer shared guitar solos.
This year’s return to the Painted Turtle rounds out a busy run for Young, who has been touring the United States and Europe with his latest band, the Chrome Hearts.
