Yungblud has addressed criticism online after appearing in a photo with Till Lindemann of Rammstein.
In 2023, a number of women publicly alleged that Lindemann had drugged them and arranged encounters for sexual purposes. His legal representatives strongly denied the claims, stating they were “without exception untrue”.
Later that same year, German prosecutors confirmed they had ended their investigation, explaining that an “evaluation of the available evidence” did not reveal “any indications that the accused has carried out sexual acts on women against their will” or administered drugs “in order to persuade them to have sex”.
Both Yungblud and Rammstein were touring Australia around the same time and crossed paths while stopping in Perth. A photo of the pair together was later shared on Lindemann’s Instagram. “Absolute pleasure meeting @yungblud in Perth,” he wrote. “Have fun in Mumbai!”
Although no criminal charges were brought against Lindemann, the controversy surrounding the allegations has continued to shape public opinion. In the comments, some fans urged Yungblud to acknowledge the situation, with several expressing their “disappointment”.
Yungblud responded by sharing an audio message on social media, via Consequence. “I had no idea,” he said. “Obviously at the minute I’m meeting lots of people every day without fully knowing who they are or what they’re about. And I can assure you, if I knew about any allegations, it would have been a completely different story. You all know what I stand for, always. I’ll be more aware of it in the future.”
Following the allegations, Lindemann was dropped by his book publisher. In 2024, he launched legal action against German outlet Der Spiegel over its reporting, claiming it relied on falsified documents and amounted to an attempt at trial fraud. A court ultimately ruled in Lindemann’s favour last year.
Elsewhere, Yungblud has recently been teasing the second chapter of his double album ‘IDOLS’, with the first part released last June. “The first part is about self reclamation and flying, learning how to get your wings,” he explained. “The next bit is the real realism, how do you live in the real world as this person you’ve discovered? It’s a little bit more cynical.” No release date has yet been announced for the follow up.
He is also set to play a run of arena shows across the UK and Ireland in April, with the tour recently extended due to high demand. Full dates can be viewed here, with remaining tickets available here.
In April, he will also perform a pair of more intimate “up close and personal” shows in London and Kingston, and has been confirmed for festival appearances at Bonnaroo and Pinkpop next year.
He also put out a collaborative EP with Aerosmith in November, and there are signs he may now be working on new material with Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder.
