Nicki Minaj Reclaims Highest-Selling Female Rapper Crown From Doja Cat

Nicki Minaj has reclaimed the throne for highest-selling female rapper of the year from Doja Cat for 2024.

While there is still one month to go, Chart Data revealed on November 30 that Minaj has thus far out-sold her fellow women in rap this year. Behind her at No. 2 is Doja, and Megan Thee StallionGloRilla and Sexyy Red round out the top five.

Last year, Minaj and Doja were in reverse positions, while Meg remained at No. 3, Cardi B held down the No. 4 spot and Ice Spice was at No. 5.

Doja was relatively quiet for 2024, with the exception of dropping a deluxe edition of her 2023 Scarlet album ahead of her headlining Coachella performance in the spring. She’s kept a low profile since and has even been off of social media for the most part, but she recently teased a “new era” and will likely return with a new project in 2025.

Conversely, Nicki Minaj toured a majority of the year and released a sprinkle of music, most recent of which is a 10th anniversary celebration of The Pinkprint that features a number of bonus tracks, including a posthumous Juice WRLD feature.

She’ll close out the year with a deluxe edition of her chart-topping 2023 album, Pink Friday 2 – and will seemingly be taking a break afterward as she’s named the deluxe, Pink Friday 2 – The Hiatus.

The effort will arrive on December 13.

Minaj told fans on her Stationhead radio show after the final show on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour in October: “I am doing a hiatus. But I have the Vogue thing, which I’m very proud and honored to do, and a couple things and then I’ll be taking a little moment to reflect.”

But once her fan pages began reporting the break, she swiftly shut the reports down.

“Ain’t going no mthfkn where. Kiss my ass & HIATUS,” she wrote with laughing emojis. “LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. We don’t announce the hiatus Barbz. Crack is whack. We don’t do that. Dem love chat dem no run dem block! Just relax & let what will be…be *dramatic cinematic music begins*”

It appears she does in fact plan to take a break and perhaps was calling out the fact that pages were reporting it before her own official announcement.
