Jeezy is in the midst of a very exciting stretch right now. The trap icon recently revealed that he will be bringing his TM:101 orchestra to Las Vegas for a special four-show residency. The run begins on October 31 and November 1 before closing out in December with performances on the 19th and 21st.
This latest extension of his orchestra series was announced just a few days before his birthday on September 28. To celebrate, he dropped a brand-new mixtape alongside longtime collaborator DJ Drama titled Still Snowin’.
“I also wanted to keep going. I feel like I’m in the zone. I’ve got my second wind in my creative space. Still Snowin’ is a Gangsta Grillz. Sept. 28 is my birthday. It’s one of my favorite projects ever.”
That second wind can definitely be heard on the tape, where Jeezy sounds relaxed, confident, and fully in his element. Interestingly, the production takes a turn from his usual booming trap anthems, leaning instead into a sound shaped by 80s and 90s influences.
While it is far from being a pop release, the instrumentals — handled by DJ Toomp and Don Cannon — bring in a bold, disco-inspired flavor. It may sound unexpected, but it actually blends seamlessly with Jeezy’s delivery.
The project also feels like a continuation of SNOFALL, their 2022 collaboration that included appearances from 42 Dugg, Lil Durk, and EST Gee.
